Greece 1958. John Antoniou emerged from beauty school with degrees in chemistry, biology, and nutrition. He was ready to find his place in the hair care industry. Even though he loved his job and enjoyed creating new looks for his clients, he had a love/hate relationship with hair products.
To John, it all seemed like marketing scams. Whoever had the best advertisement won. He might start out liking a product, but after a few months the results fell short. Products claiming to make hair thick just had a high pH which would only swell the hair causing it to become thick, but not healthy.
In 1970, he moved his family to America. Although he had a lucrative business as a hairdresser and managed his own school, he was confronted with the exact same problems. Not only that, he found that he and the majority of the hairdressers he worked with were having health problems he knew stemmed from working with chemicals on a daily basis. Why couldn't there be a product that came through on all it's promises and was good for the health of client and hairdresser too?
As a hobby, John began experimenting in the basement of his North Carolina home with different ingredients trying to come up with the perfect formula marrying health and beauty into a shampoo for all types of hair. After that success, he ventured on to other shampoos and conditioners, gels and perms. He discovered he couldn't stop creating. Ideas were flooding him even in his sleep.
Then a human error occured that would change his life forever.
In John's salon, one of the hairdressers came to him in a panic. She had just over-processed her client's hair. It was fried beyond repair, falling out and breaking like tissue paper. She begged him to help her. Did he know of anything that could help?
He ran out of the salon and got to his basement as fast as possible where he began mixing ingredients of a new product he had been formulating in his head. When he returned to the salon, he applied the solution to the client's hair. A miracle transpired. The hair stopped breaking and falling out. It was as if the mistake of over-processing never happened. John Antoniou had invented Rezz-a-rect.
Antoniou Ltd. was born.
After a short period, demand for his products increased in the community and he knew he needed to expand from his basement to a warehouse. Excited to have more room to create and quadrupling his hairdressing clientele, word of mouth spread and John found he needed to expand to yet a bigger warehouse where he continues to create amazingly healthy products.
His son Emmanuel has also caught the mixing bug, and helps his father produce and distribute products all over the east coast. Their dream is to spread across the country and eventually the rest of the world.

Emmanuel Antoniou, only son to originator of Antoniou Ltd., John Antoniou, has been working with the company for over 25 years. Growing up around hairdressers, Emmanuel developed a deep appreciation and understanding of merging health and hair care. He joined the family business and has begun to aid in the formulation of Antoniou products, claiming it gives him a greater understanding of their hair care line.
"There are no shortcuts in Antoniou. We only produce quality products. Now that we are venturing out to the public, its important to stress that these products will not only improve the health of your hair, but the health of you, the individual, as well. Correcting severely damaged hair and hearing testimonies of 'If it weren't for your product, I don't know what I would've done' is what I live for. I can't hear that enough. I wnat to reach more and more people to bring the joy of healthy hair and a healthy life.

Jeannie Blankenship, educator, platform artist, and active member of the NC State Board of Cosmetology has been in the hair care business for over forty years.
When John Antoniou first came to her shop, Jeannie didn't have time for him and honestly didn't need to try yet another new product. John persisted and over time Jeannie gave in and tried his Rezz-a-rect. She fell in love with the incredible results and decided to put the rest of his line to the test. The more she worked with the line, the more she loved it. Jeannie was hooked. She immediately invested in his company and became part owner in the business she claims has helped build her career.
Jeannie now markets Antoniou products and is owner of JB Beauty Supply.
After my hairdresser left bleach on my hair too long (chatting with her friend), my hair was mush. I tried every product I could get my hands on regardless of the price. Nothing worked.
